Hi Sin
Long Story Short:
1 – Re-install the base system of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 over the current System Drive, from a USB stick or NetInstall image.
2 – Apply the 10.8.1 update downloading it from Apple Support page.

The point is exactly to do a re-installation OVER the current System Volume, without wiping the current system, but rewriting the base OS X 10.8[.0] over the current system.
You need to source the very first installation image release by Apple.
Torrent could be a good source.

If you reinstall from the Mac App Store (or recovery partition) you will have the 10.8.2 directly installed as Apple provides the most recent installer only.

Oh so the reason I'm still getting 10.8.2 is because I'm using a source from the current Mac Store? That makes total sense. Thank you very much.
