I've upgraded to 3.2.2 by stupid careless mistake. I know if you have JB already then you can go back to 3.2.1 by shsh restore option.
but.. my iPad hasn't been JBed yet. Is there any way or any chance i can go back to 3.2.1?

Thanks!

I just ordered a new iPad.

If it comes with 3.2.2 installed, is there anyway to jailbreak at all?

That stinks.

Hopefully the Sep 1st event will have OS4.

What are the odds mine will come with 3.2.1 when it shipped out of China?

I would say the odds are pretty low unfortunately. I just got my iPad yesterday from a web order and it had 3.2.2 pre-installed. :(

downgrading

hi guys can i downgrade from 4.2 to 4.0 or 4.1 on my 3gs i have shsh files saved for 4.0 on my laptop the reason for this is because my phone is stuck in recovery mode with the itunes logo and the usb lead and the only way round it i can see is to update with i tunes please help im going out my mind here

Easy

save your SHSH via Umbrella, while saving just change it 3.2.1 in advance window of Umbrella.

now edit the host file

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

download iPad 3.2.1 restore firmware.

restore using Shift+Restore

You are done !

I just did .. I did not save SHSH before.

So you never had 3.2.1 on your iPad before jailbreaking?

I had before. but I never saved the SHSH. for the first time Umbrella read my SHSH I am already on 3.2.2.

well .. no harm in trying .. as i said I just tried and it worked.

I'm familiar with TinyUmbrealla, its great. How can it retrieve SHSH blocks for a previous firmware that you never saved to Cydia if SHSH blobs are unique to all devices?

I tried to go from 4.0 back to 3.1.2 using TinyUmbrella a while ago on another device and i kept getting error 3194 and tinyUmbrella was unable to retrieve blobs for 3.1.2.

Can anything bad happen by trying to do this? Like can you brick your iPad via trying to down/upgrade?

I'm in the same boat, I got my iPad with 3.2.1 and upgraded to 3.2.2 w/o jailbreak. I tried your first step using TinyUmbrella, but no luck saving as 3.2.1. Can you explain the exact settings you used in Umbrella to get this to work? I don't understand how its supposed to save as 3.2.1 if there is no SHSH on file...?

What version of Umbrella did you use? current version 4.02.05 isn't working, neither are some of the cache'd versions I found

Same here dude, I just tried but Umbrella says I am too late. I really don't want to wait for another jailbreak to come out. Why can't apple just face the fact that there will always be people jailbreaking their products and get over it already.

I wonder if we'll see a 3.2.2 JB now that iPhone 4.1 is out, or will they wait for the unified 4.2 in November.

Well, coming out soon. And wouldn't 3.2.2 and 4.1 have the same exploitable bits?

Maybe, maybe not. I believe jailbreakme.com did not work for 4.1 beta when it was released. This was long before 3.2.2 and 4.02 where released. I know that this is reversed, but just because a vulnerability is in a version doesn't mean it was in the previous version or the next version, even if Apple didn't specifically patch it.

I guess I should have rephrased though. We'll probably never see anything directly targeting 3.2.2. It may jailbreak it as a byproduct. There is no reason for the dev team to specifically target 3.2.2. I'm sure their effort is going towards 4.1. If it jbs 3.2.2, then great. If not, then all-well.

Yeah that's what I meant, and was hoping.

Don't know how high profile a 4.1 JB would be, with 4.2 announced, and around the corner.

Just sucks getting an iPad after the 3.2.2 patch and having to wait.

yes it does. I was hoping I got an old stock model before the 3.2.2, but that wasn't the case. :(

I just was reading that that tiny umbrella program works for a few people. I don't have the link right here. I was looking on my iMac and I'm on my pad now. I'll try this tomorrow.
