so i got the beta and tried it. too buggy. so i restored down to 4.3.3 and it said i had to set up phone as new first before i could restore from backup. so i restored to new. how do i now put my backup onto it? thanks!

Sorry man, once a backup has touched a higher firmware version, you cant use it anymore. You can put iOS 5 back on, then use redsnow to boot into a tethered jailbreak and save your sms file, as well as any user data (highscores.lua for angry birds) etc. And then put 4.3 back on and jb that and put the files back, but thats it.

I actually just backed up from the one i did on sunday. so all is well.
