Downgrading Vista to XP on Bootcamp

Hello everybody! I want to downgrade windows vista ultimate to windows xp sp2 on bootcamp. Do I have to format the windows partition? How do I do that? If I boot from the windows xp cd, would I be able to install it or I necessarily have to use boot camp assistant to make it properly?

I'd just go back into bootcamp,delete the partition & start over again
