In case somebody ever needs this:
First of all, both the InstallESD.dmg from the Install Mac OS X Lion.app as well as the retail version of the Lion USB Stick (10.7.3) give you a striked-though circle and won't boot. And Mountain Lion did replace your recovery partition, so that won't work either. Nor can you use the open command on the Install Mac OS X Lion.app from the terminal in the recovery system.
The magical thing is that these machines support Internet Recovery, which usually only boots up when either your hard drive is kaputt or you've installed a brand sparklin' new one.
However, if you hold Command-Option-R and turn the MacBook on, you'll be greeted with a spinning globe, and shortly thereafter encounter Lion's recovery system, which allows you to install that version of OS X.
