Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I upgraded to Mac OS X Mountain Lion. It does not start, it just stays at a loading screen with the apple logo. I can only use recovery mode, and there is an option for reinstalling, but I am unable to do that. Is there any way I can downgrade to lion from recovery mode?

EDIT: I do not have a backup. Yes, I am an idiot for not backing it up, but I don't have an external HD to do so.

According to someone from the Mountain Lion board, ML apparently puts new Firmware on your HDD, and makes it pretty hard to downgrade. That's just from a quick read through of the ML board though.

Short of pulling the drive, reinstalling on a new one, and migrating your data over, I can't think of a good way to fix that.
