Is there a privacy option so it only shows the folder and not the actual latest file?
It’s possible on Mac, why not on iPad? I hope so. I love the feature, but i wouldn’t feel comfortable having other people peaking at the files showing there. Also, it’s aesthetically hideous.

I am not aware of any such setting on Mac. The logged in user always has the ability to see the file system. On iPad, I understand that it's a shared device, but anyone using it can also see the files in the Files app. I don't think there is any way to hide them.

This isn’t what the OP means (at least as I understand it).

iPadOS 26 allows users now to place a folder in the dock for easy access. unlike a Mac however where you can choose that to be shown as a folder icon, on iPadOS 26 it actually shows an icon of one of the files in the folder, which is a bit of a privacy nightmare. There needs be an option here where you can choose it to display as a folder icon as per the Mac,

OP, I would suggest that you make a Feedback request because this seems to be a large oversight on Apple’s part. I’ll make one too.
