iPod touch Download from itunes to iPod Touch

What gives?!! I downloaded a song from iTunes onto my 32GB iPod Touch 3g....I sync'ed to my mbp.... and the song did not transfer to the mbp. I cannot even drag and drop it to the comp....if my ipt craps out, I am out of that song? Not fair, I paid for the song...I assumed it would be as if I downloaded it to my mbp from itunes.

Can anyone offer a solution or work around? (other than not using the ipt to d/l songs!)

I have purchased songs from iTunes on my iPod Touch and when I hook it up to my MacBook and run iTunes there, I am able to transfer my purchases through the iTunes Store. There is an option in the iTunes store section on the right that says "Purchased on <name of iPod>".

You can select that and then go to the "File" menu and select "Transfer Purchases from '<name of iPod>'" and it will back up those purchases.

As for being able to recover the stuff on your iPod, regular synching and backing up should cover that.

If you are interested in doing more than that, I suggest spending some time at http://www.versiontracker.com and do a search to see what other applications have been created by clever programmers to get around Apple's perceived and sometimes actual shortsightedness.

You can also search the App store with keywords of tasks you would like to do on your iPod. There is an obscene number of applications available for the iPod Touch and iPhone. I'm sure you would find something you like. I have almost 100 applications and they were all free.
