When testing download speed on my gigabit service, I would only get 267 down *wired* on my iMac versus 600+ wifi download speed on my iPhone. Thinking that it was Catalina's fault, I managed to torture a couple of Apple support people to no avail.
Then I had a cable man visit and he suggested using a different browser. I said no way. He said try it. Sure enough: 800 down on Firefox and Safari. He said that he had other customers with the same experience.
Apparently if you login into Chrome, there are all sorts of hidden processes that eat up 70% of the bandwidth! Maybe Google should be broken up.
