I'm hoping to download the file on my work computer (much faster internet) and apply it using iTunes later at home.

Is there a server where I can download the new software from?

BEWARE.

There's no proof that these are legit. Also consider their web addresses as having nothing to do with Apple.

Wow, really? If you know iPhone firmware download links, you would know these are legit Apple firmware direct download links.

So sorry.

What is one supposed to think with:

appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-6578.20090617.VfgtU/iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

As the link? Just trying to encourage others to think before downloading.

I can see how one would think they're not legit. No problems :D

Yep, having been through the 2.0 firmware midnight rush, I know these links are legit (although it doesn't appear to be directly from Apple).
