Download/Upload Speed Dropoff

I have been having trouble with my download speeds as of late. They are incredibly slow for my ISP connection speed (6Mg). I had the cable people out to test the speed and they showed a side by side speed test between a laptop running vista and my Imac G5 running 10.3. There was a huge difference in download/upload speed. Is there some settings or upgrade I can do to get my connection to the internet faster?

Is your iMac connected via ethernet or by an AirPort? Have you changed any network settings?

Its set for ethernet. I havn't messed with the settings because I really don't know what does what

Have you tried a SpeedTest you'll get the results for internet connection on the mac then and you'll see if its something has gone wrong on the mac or isp/router...
