I'm look for a free app that will download youtude video or any other flash video. I know I can do this with safari but looking for another option.

how do u do this through safari?

Option commond A will bring up a activity window and double click the one that holds the video and it will downlownload it. Nut
You still need to convert the video if you do it that way. Google it there are tons of sites that will show you how it is done.

you can also go to a website like www.downloadyoutubevideos.com or www.keepvid.com
just google 'download youtube videos', and you should get plenty of links.
they download the videos as a .flv, and then download iSquint to convert them.
but if youre looking for a single application then just ignore this and look at the posts above.

I use savetube.com. Just copy and paste the Youtube addy into it and it will download the file - only problem is its still a flash file; you'll need a player. I use the free SWF & FLV Player (it was recommended by Apple). As for conversion, I've still yet to find anything I really really like...

Most videos (that I've downloaded) have MP4 versions, whether 320*xxx or 480*xxx. Although Keepvid has the MP4 option, I use this bookmark for quick and easy downloading.

Make a bookmark with this as the URL:

javascript:window.location.href%20=%20'http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id='%20+%20swfArgs['video_id']%20+%20"&l="%20+%20swfArgs['l']%20+%20"&sk="%20+%20swfArgs['sk']%20+%20'&t='%20+%20swfArgs['t'];

Then put that bookmark in the bookmark bar. Click it when your watching a movie on YouTube and it will download it!

Guys, the easiest way to download YouTube vids without ANY third party software is this:

In Safari, click on 'Window' and select 'Activity'.
Click on the triangle next to the URL of the YouTube you want to download.
Navigate towards the bottom of the list, there will be a file that is obviously larger than the rest (as in most will be several KB, this one will be in MBs)
Double click on the large file and your video will start downloading.

Where does it save it?

You can also download using Firefox with the download manager plugin. Save the Flv file to whereever.

Either play it in VLC, or convert it to a Mpg4 in handbrake or other formats with MPEG-streamclip.

MPEG- streamclip can also download the flv if you know the url address, the firefox method just needs a rightclick and chose save.

True, but this (see below) is so much easier. It's just one click of a bookmark.
