If I download stuff from the app store on my current iphone, and then go buy the 3G later when all the hoopla dies down, the apps should transfer to the 3G when I sync it with itunes, right?

Also, it's my understanding that my old iphone will then still be useable as a wifi ipod. Will the apps I downloaded continue to function the same on the old iphone (assuming the apps don't need an active AT&T account)? Would I still be able to buy new apps on the old deactivated iphone?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm thinking that you should be able to because you would be using a wi-fi connection, whereas you wouldn't be able to use edge. As long as it can talk to your iTunes account.

Well, what happens with iTunes music when you move from device to device? Apps are exactly the same, they even use the same type of DRM.
