Hey all,

I asked this in another thread where it didn't get any nibbles and was kinda diverging from the topic at hand anyway, so I thought it would be prudent to start a new thread instead.

Is there any way that you can override the "compatibility detection" that some apps in the store enforce, and proceed with the download anyway? Sometimes I want to be able to download an app on one computer even if I don't intend to use it on that same computer.

Imagine this scenario: personal computer at home on slow internet connection that you need to reinstall OS X on, different and also older Mac on a blistering-fast network connection elsewhere. You want to download the latest OS X installer via this other Mac and take the installer app home with you on a USB thumb drive.

The trouble is that because it's an older Mac, and one that is not compatible with the current version of OS X, you get an error similar to this when trying to download it:

appstore2.png

(Mountain Lion in the above example, but Mavericks throws up a similar screen.)

Is there any way around this stupid limitation? I tried holding down all sorts of modifier key combos while clicking the Download button and no joy. FOR PETE'S SAKE APPLE I KNOW IT'S NOT COMPATIBLE I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING JUST LET ME DOWNLOAD IT. :p
