Guys,
is there a way (an application or sth) with which i can download attachments (word/pdf/ppt/excel) from my email directly to the iphone and review/edit them offline
 
I'm not sure, but the ability to make changes to any document requires the document be downloaded to your computer then reloaded and sent back to you. Currently, you can only view the aforementioned documents. I think Microsoft Office is still attempting to change all that....
 
Although it seems like a very basic function, you cannot accomplish this task on the iPhone. You cannot alter the documents you receive as email attachments. There are ways to download txt files off the Internet and then edit them though, using an app like iStorage. You cannot DL doc files and edit them though.
