I'm having a problem with downloading a video on the Final Cut Express timeline to my Sony HDR FX1. The camera is set to the VCR setting and the video plays OK in the timeline. However, when I 'print to video' all I get on the camera screen is a red dot at the top and a running tape through the machine which doesn't capture anything. As an experiment to whether the camera was at fault I got someone to hitch it to their computer to see if they could download something, which they could. So it seems the camera's OK and the problem is with Final Cut Express (version 3.5.1). I've checked that it recognises the camera, and it does. I seem to have tried everything and am starting to pull out what little hair I've got left.
Just as a bit of further detail, the FX1 is set to DV 16:9 and the easy set up is DV-PAL anamorphic (which I think is the right setting for widescreen). I've also tried setting it up as DV-PAL but no joy. Can anyone help me as I've run out of buttons to press!
