I searched this forum first and only 4-5 threads came up, none addressing this issue.

I don't regularly do this, but recently I needed to download a somewhat large file (over 1GB). I'm using an iPhone 14 Pro Max with iOS 18.5 and directing the file to my internal storage, which is plenty large enough to accommodate the file. I turned off Low Power Mode, although I made sure the phone was fully charged before trying to download. While it seems to start off well enough, it continually pauses at some point. I thought it might be when the lock screen came up and when the screen went off, but that doesn't seem to be it. The file seems to download for a bit after that, but pauses at some point. I can restart it, but this is quite tedious. Normally I would do this on my iPad, but it's old and running out of storage. I know it's time for a new one, but in the interim, using my phone would be helpful.

What can I do to continuously download a file in the background? I wouldn't think this would be difficult. Thanks.

which app? I have no problem doing this via e.g. Safari or the Files app in iOS/iPadOS 18.x or 26b3. I regularly transfer even greater data files from our CT scanner from smb:-shares or via http:
