I've just got a Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) model with Ivy Bridge, and I wish to download Lion from the Mac App Store.

Reason, is I whist to create usb bootable flash, as I have a few bought for there stuff too.

Now, the problem comes:

I'm unable to download.

Is the Restore Partition the only way for this to work ? Since I'll be downloading 4 Gig or so anyway, I'd rather make it worth while afterwards with a USB drive for future use. (Buying from Apple is not going to be an option, as I can make my own).

try holding option and click download beside Lion

...

Just tried this. It didn't work.

I also tried Holding OPTION while clicking Purchases.

......

what about just clicking on Lion from the home page of the MAS and not in your purchased tab?

im thinking the newer mbps need 10.7.4 and your purchased history is an older one like 10.7

Sorry... this didn't help either.... same issue..

I'm not too sure which version it was when purchased. but maybe could be why.

You won't be able to get it from the App Store, because you did not buy it there. You will need to intercept the downloadable installer from Apple's servers using this process.

After you snag the installer, you can use this free tool to make your USB installer.

why is it listed in his purchased tab with a purchase date of July 20 2011 if he did not purchase it from the MAS?

OP im assuming you purchased it on an old MAC other than your current rMBP do you still have this MAC try and download it from that one

That is exactly what happened. The App Store version won't work as the new 2012 machines use a different build of 10.7.4. OP will need to grab it using the process I linked.

I purchased Lion in the App Store on my 2011 MBP, and get the same message in the App Store now on my 2012 MBA (cap below).
