Downloading Messages

I want to download some past messages I have deleted Tony iPhone . The thing thats happens though is that it shows me how to do this, I follow the instructions but the downloading switches off before it starts. Any ideas what's happening?

Can you give more info please? Are you trying to extract them from a backup or download from a second device with iCloud? What are your exact steps?

Or you try to recover them with some third-party software?
