So I'm a registered developer, and I currently don't have access to download the .dmg file off the apple devsite. I have an iOS 6 iPad 4 and I'm trying to update to the latest beta 4.

Anyone know how to do this?

Why don't you have access?
I have access, but I don't have access to a Mac at the moment. I'm trying to update the iPad on a Windows and you can't download the .dmg file on a windows computer (eff you, Windows)

Basically, what I'm wondering is, since its currently on the 4th release, and you obviously can't just hit "find updates" OTA on the device, and I'm assuming Beta 1 has expired by now, how do you "catch up" on a device when your first upgrade is to Beta 4

What is preventing you from downloading .dmg on Windows machine? My roommate only has Windows PC...he is able to downloads .dmg beta file.

Um, well I click the link and it begins. What's it doing that is preventing you?

My understanding is that a .dmg file is an Apple extension and you need to download some type of App to run it on a Windows system

Is it even possible to download the iOS betas on Windows? I thought you had to have a Mac for that?

EDIT: Yeah, as Smith288 said, changing the file extension to .zip should let you open it up.

Windows will not recognize .dmg file as OS X doesn't know .exe file. Thought it does not prevent your from downloading the file. You need 7zip to extract .dmg file.

yeah so basically you have to download some crappy freeware and then you'll be able to do extract the .ipsw file.

Not crappy just an application that will allow you to extract a particular file type. Pretty standard in the world of computing for decades now.

you should be able to get the file, but I am not sure about loading iOS7 without a mac. Guess you could try using iTunes?

Oh I've done it before on Windows, but that's when the .ipsw file was available to download.

Just like on a Mac you would use iTunes on a PC. There's really nothing weird or harder about it whether you use a PC or a Mac.

So the other question would be, now that you can download the .dmg file on Windows, can you upgrade from iOS 6 to iOS 7 beta 4? Or do you need to upgrade to an earlier Beta release?

Simple use of an application like 7-Zip to open the .dmg file and get the .ipsw that's inside. Fairly standard in the world of PCs and not that unusual for even Macs that have things like Stuffit Expander or The Unarchiver (it just happens that .dmg is natively supported by OS X).

You can go to any beta that you have the file for.
