Downloading torrents Utorrent/transmission

I'm having trouble downloading torrents on my new (early 2011) MBP. Some torrents are downloading fine, but some of them cannot find any peers. Tho on my windows laptop they download fine at a normal rate and speed. Ive tried both Utorrent and Transmission and both can't find any peers. Firewall is turned off. Im running OS 10.7.2.

Any suggestions?

Can some admin clarify for me before I go ahead and answer and get a message saying I've broken the rules again... Is this thread in line with forum rules?

Discussion of torrents is not against the rules.

Discussion of music/software from torrent is against the rules.

There are some valid uses of torrents, though admittedly the lion share of usage is for piracy. This thread could result in various reminders/warnings sent out, if it veers off into details about piracy sites or software.
