I'm in an Apple Facebook group and posted a YouTube video (The link) and the mod removed it and said I must download the video from YouTube and upload it to the group page. It's a large FB group. Is this normal practice for FB groups?

I'm in the USA so I feel this could get me into some legal trouble with copyright laws. The YouTube channel of this video has 275K subs so it along with the group is not small so my post might get back to the YT creator.

Am I overthinking this and it's something people do without anyone caring about or would I be crazy to post this on Facebook with my real name?

Have you reached out to the YT creator? they might like the extra exposure if you credit them on the post?
I haven’t. The admin clarified that he doesn’t want YouTube creator to profit off of ads if the videos are posted on his group. I don’t think he’s from the USA and understands copyright laws but that’s illegal from my understanding of the law. Perhaps I’ll ask the YouTube creator and ask them but I don’t see why they would agree since it’s basically taking their property. I think I’m just going to not post there. Sometimes it’s hard to explain to people from countries that don’t really go by copyright laws that intellectual property is still property. The problem is that Facebook account is in my real name so it wouldn’t be hard to track me down in person.

I couldn’t find any contact information for him. I guess with that many subscribers you don’t want everyone emailing you. I’m just not going to worry about it. This dude wants me to break the law but I’m not going to do it so not going to post YouTube content on the Facebook page. It’s kind of a shame that outside of the USA and EU copyright law isn’t really a thing
