Downloads folder on Desktop missing

I turned on my iMac this evening, and noticed that the Downloads Folder on my Desktop Dock is now missing. Any ideas how this happened, and how to get it back?

The Dock always had the Downloads Folder next to the Applications Folder. Now suddenly its missing.

OK...I just didn't know what "desktop toolbar" was. Go to: Finder>Macintosh HD>Users>YOUR USER NAME and drag the "Downloads" folder back onto the right side of the dock.

I just had the same thing happen. I don't know if the Downloads folder just disappeared or if I accidentally removed it from the dock.

Thanks for the instructions on how to put the folder back in the dock.
