downloads from canon hfs 20 to i movie

have trouble downloading video from the canon hfs 20 to imovie the pictures are no problem, the computer sends error message can't find the camera??

any help??

Are you trying "Import from Camera ..." or just Import > Movies?

Import from camera is only for tape-based cameras connected via FireWire ... You need to choose Import > Movies, then navigate to where the clips are on the SD cards (I'm assuming they show up, since you can download the pics from them).

the camera created thumbnails and showed a green pc connection but no video

Using Finder, can you navigate to where the video files are on the SD card?

If you can, just drop them into the Library portion of iMovie.

yes they are on a file and can be played back on the view finder

i opened finder but am not sure where to go from there

this could go on all day, i will call canon tech tomorrow and see if they can help
mac support was not that great.

The files are on the SD card somewhere, try looking in the camera's manual for where they are saved.

When you find them, you will be able to work with them.
