Downloads in App Store - Error Message

I cannot download any apps in the Mac App store. I am logged in, but the following error message appears every time.

We Could Not Complete Your Request
There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (@@errorNum@@)

Any thoughts on how to correct this?
