Downloads stack on dock missing previews

I was using CleanMyMac to make space on my 128 GB drive and after the trial expired, I found I could still delete stuff by right-clicking on the result and going to the relevant folder in Finder. I deleted some cached stuff and now my Downloads stack on my Dock is missing the icons! Maybe I deleted the wrong sub-folder in Finder?!
