I was testing out the Clementine music player the other day, and found I needed an outgoing firewall (TCPBlock) to block the App's addiction to track and artist info from Last.fm.
Once TCPBlock was installed, I noticed much activity by apsd. As far as I can tell, I don't really need push notifications from Apple. Blocking apsd's network access (incoming via Apple's firewall, outgoing via TCPBlock) didn't seem to cause any short term problems; internet, email, iTunes still work nicely for me. But I wonder, will cloud sync of documents now fail? Has anyone found any other negative consequences of walling off a Mac like this?
