Downsides to never letting 15" rMBP Sleep?

I am having this issue here:

And I am going to exchange my Early 2013 rMBP at BBY today. In the event that this is a Mavericks issue and not a hardware issue (as suggested by Apple Support) it seems my only solution is going to be to not let the computer sleep. If it is sitting idle overnight, is there any real downside to this? Especially if I black out the screen overnight.
