So I picked up a Mini Display Port to DVI adapter to hook up to my HP 22'' W2207 Widescreen monitor and I misplaced the dvi cable so i used a dvi-vga adapter :p. So my problem is I do not get any display output yet my mac found it as a display in the settings.

Anyone else have trouble with an external display??

thanks in advance

i believe that the adapter is dvi-d instead of dvi-i, which basically means that it is not backwards compatible with vga. So, you either need to buy a dvi cable, or buy a dp-vga adapter.

+1

The dvi adaptor can not produce analog signals. So you need a digital cable, weather thats a dvi-dvi or dvi-hdmi. But it needs to be digital.

update I went and returned that adapter to frys and picked up a dvd-d-dvd-d no problem worked right away. thanks guys!
