Hi there,

Is anyone else experiencing this super annoying bug where you can't drag an URL from Safari's Address bar, to the Finder?
If so, has anyone found a working solution to it?

As I've illustrated below, when the icon next to the address bar is visible, I can drag, when there's only a cross next to the address bar, I can not drag.

Funnily enough, when I set the Tab Layout to Compact, and then back to Seperate, the Icon in the site will show, and I'm able to drag links from the address bar again. As soon as I click on a link on that site, dragging the URL no longer works.

I think I've had this since before Sequoia but not sure when it began, but seeing this here (b7 of Sequoia). especially now that most sites are ssl encrypted they all show the lock icon where the favicon used to be and you can't drag the lock icon. I have bookmark folders setup as my toolbar favorites and want to easily add a bookmark to a category and can't drag it now.

This happens in Sonoma as well. When it does, you have to click on the text of the URL field and drag the automatically highlighted URL text to the desktop. I'm sure there's some actual thought/reason behind this from Apple engineers... but I can't imagine what it could be.

I'm seeing it for this forum thread right now. It's the "Close Tab" button – you will only see it when you have multiple Tabs open. When this is active, you have to have the URL text itself highlighted and drag THAT to the Desktop.

Ahh. I have "Tab layout" on Separate rather than Compact. I wonder whether the issue is exclusive to Compact layout.

Seems the same to me no matter which setting I use (I use Compact, but Separate looks like the same situation).
