Dragging files from folder onto desktop .. Why doesn't file get placed where I let go of the cursor? It's so annoying that anytime I have to quickly copy or move a file to my desktop, as soon as I release the cursor holding the file, OSX will place the file in some weird, random location on my desktop, with absolutely no reasoning behind it. On top of it not placing the file where I release my cursor at, it doesn't even align the file to the grid, or place it in a designated "slot" on the desktop. It just happened to me and instead of placing the file where I release on the desktop, it placed it OVERLAPPING several other icons in a random position. Very annoying. Is there a fix? Thanks!

Have you tried right clicking on the desktop and going through the sort by and view options?
