Dragging Folder to Desktop Makes Shortcut (Alias) Instead of Moving

Hi,

I more things to the desktop from various places on my hard drive when I'm working on projects. With Mavericks, it no longer moves the actual folder to the desktop, it just creates an alias or shortcut. I've tried dragging directly to the desktop, dragging to the Desktop sidebar shortcut in Finder, and dragging into the actual desktop folder on my hard drive.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get it to stop making shortcuts and just move what I drag to the desktop?

Tried holding down OPTION or COMMAND while doing so? Maybe they switched things around?
