Dragging items into iMovie

Hi, I have tried dragging a quick movie file into the newest version of iMovie but nothing happens?
Could someone please tell me what is going on?

You have to click File -> Import movies to project...

While we are at it, there are like 15 clips of 10-15 seconds
And I want to delete half, I tried clicking them, pressing delete but it just '' Rejects '' them, how do you get them all out

Dragging them to the Trash should work, or right click and look for a "Move to Trash" or "Remove" option.
