Strange problem here. I am close to throwing my macbook out of the window. My macbook's trackpad (MB Pro Late 2008) used to work fine until a friend connected a magic mouse a week or so ago. Now dragging with the trackpad does not work any more in the usual way.

Details: When switching to "dragging with 3 fingers" in the system prefs, this works fine. When switching to 1 finger dragging, dragging only works when I start to drag (a window, change window sizw) extremely fast after the initial double-click or when I hold the trackpad with one finger and then start dragging extremely fast with the other finger.

Seems I have to set the value that specifies the maximum time between the click and dragging to a higher value, but WHERE? In the systems prefs, there is only tracking, double-click and scrolling speed and neither resolves the problems.

Is there a way to reset the trackpad/mouse options?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Burny

Have you tried downgrading your firmware (software drivers)???
