I have been dealing with the blue screen for quite a while. It started when I installed a seagate ehd. I took off all the software for it, but the bluescreen remains. The only way it will let me start or turn off my mac is if I unplug everything but the keyboard and mouse (so basically non mac items).
I have tried reinstalling the os, but that did nothing.
On the apple website it says to try this:
"Starting up in safe mode
If you see the login window prompting you for a user name and password, but starting up doesn't progress, you may have incompatible login items.
Eliminating incompatible login items
Repair your startup disk or disk permissions by starting up from your Mac OS X installation disc and using Disk Utility."
I'm tired and have a cold, so this is probably going over my head, but to do this I would turn off my mac, and then,....no, I would put the installation disk into my mac first, then turn it off, and then at start up it would ask me to start it using the disk??? Or would I just put the cd in, and then go to disk utitilities (where ever that is?)
I really don't play with the behind the scenes stuff much, but I can't afford to take this in, if I can do this myself. I just need some direction. I just fixed my trash problem using the terminal thingy.
