i upgraded to ML 10.8.2 yesterday, and got better battery life but my performance has gone down SIGNIFICANTLY. I cant open google chrome and itunes at the same time before it crashes, swiping to dashboard then getting stuck there and forced to shut down by power button or gets the infinite beach ball. i got the 2012 base MBP 13 a month ago so im guessing its a software problem. is anyone else experiencing this? or is it just me?

Sure work on a prerelease build. Its called a BETA for a reason. Not the glorified demos seen throughout the tech/software industry.

Governing the CPU to extend battery run time, in this case it looks to be more related to be software incompatibility on a dev release and of no concern to the public in general

So throttling of the CPU is what you meant.

OP has disappeared. It looks like he stole the software and is upset that beta software hosed his system. I don't have much sympathy for someone who complains that beta software doesn't work correctly.
