My sister bought one just for fun. And fun it is, you can toss it across the room and watch it bounce...her dog loves it.
A large German Sheppard, he picks it up in his mouth rather gently almost as if he is being careful as we play fetch

Makes sense to me. It's made for the lifeproof cases which are waterproof. If you're using your iPhone on a boat, it only makes sense that you'd want to be able to make it float, because it doesn't matter how waterproof your phone is once you drop it into the ocean/lake. At least this gives you a chance to recover it.
