I am a design student, but i haven't used Macromedia Dreamweaver that much; i have maybe used it twice since MX came out. So, as you can see, i think i will need some help with this question reguarding tables, or background images and text (?).

Anyway, my question is this... Can i take a completely designed image from PS, and set that as my background image? Then can i place a table or something to arrange text and buttons where i want them? If so how do i do this?

This is supposed to be part of a five page site, but i am clueless on how to use the tables, if this is in fact what i am supposed to be using.

Another thing i wanted too mention is that i want to have the page be contained within a standard screen, with no need to scroll. It would look something like what is at bw3.com. I would like the attached image to be placed on a similar black colored background, so when you look at it, you see the image with a blackish boarder. Then, i would like buttons to be on the checker board, and info text on the yellow area.

I just can't figure out how to do this, so if someone who understood all of that, could help me that would be great. Let me know if you need more info.

this is what you do...

You can take the photoshop image, make sure it does not exceed 760 pixels in width and whatever in length try and keep it to 400-500px's.

Anyway, save that for the web. In page properties under modify, set that image you saved as a background. Then create some tables that match where you want them.

I don't suggest doing all of that, it would be easier to disect your images in PS and place them in a constructed table.

But it's your project.

Link what you designed when finished. I am curious to see how you did. Hope this helps.

Cheers.

hey, thanks for the reply.

I finally figured it out. My brother, while trying to showing me how to do something, changed something which had me in the layout design mode. Which in less i exited it, would not let me do anything.

So, after figuring this out, i finally relized how to create layers in dreamweaver. Once i learned how to use these layers i could do what i wanted.

But, i do have one more question. It may be a real easy one, but how do i make a file downloadable? For example, i want to create a link that when clicked on, people would download the bars menu as a PDF file. I'm just not sure if i point to it like a link, and keep it within my site folder; if this will work or not?

Thanks, for your help _bnkr612.
