drifting color calibration on MBP 17 LED

I have a 17in C2D 2.6Hz MacBook Pro--high res, glossy screen. I am driving an external 23in ACD. I have noticed recently that the color calibration on the MBP screen is slowly drifting toward a blue cast (no change on the external monitor). When I pull up the display utility, it detects the display and corrects the calibration instantly.

anyone else seen this?
