Hey does anyone here know how to get drifting to work in the ipad version of need for speed shift?

The instructions say to suddenly jerk in the direction of the curve and when I do that, maybe 1/3 of the time, the car will start drifting. However it always stops drifting after just 4 seconds or so, so I can't get anywhere near the needed drift times to pass the drift levels. I tried jerking the screen harder, but that just causes the ipad to think im turning it upside down, causing it to rotate the screen.

Can anyone help? How do you guys reliably get into a drift and then maintain it?

Jerking the wheel works for me. It doesn't always happen but I just thought that the car wasn't in the right position.

Two jerks to the right works for me, after the second jerk it send me drifting with my bum to the left and the nose to the right. Opposite gives opposite results.

What I have to do usually is, say I'm drifting right. I have to jerk right to start the car sliding, then I turn to the left to "catch" and "balance" the drift, and keep on swaying the thing to balance out the drift :p

hmm using these tips I can now get up to about 40-50 seconds of drift in round 1-6, which isn't even enough for the 80 seconds for Bronze. How long can you guys maintain your drifts for? Most of mine just tend to go for 3-6 seconds.

Also, how do you guys keep the iPad screen from flipping? Now maybe 1/3 of the time I drift, the screen rotates upside down because it thinks I've changed the orientation of the iPad.

I do not have an iPad yet, but can't you use the rotation lock switch, to prevent it from turning?

I finally got it to work well enough to drift for 94 seconds in stage 4-6 and unlock the bugatti veyron!

I think what I was doing wrong originally was that I was trying to drift by giving it a violent sudden steer, when the motion it actually wants is for me to push my right and forward and left hand toward me in a jerk (for the right turn drift, or the other way for a left turn drift). I also found that I can stay in a drift much longer if I keep repeating this jerking motion every second while I'm inside the drift.

Now I just have to find a way to raise the $1,200,000 that I need to buy this car with. :D

Making money is easy when you can complete stage 4-4 in 45-46 seconds every time. :)

One thing to try is slick tires. Don't upgrade the tires on the car you need to be a goo drifter. And rather than jerking the screen I find a quick jiggle gets the job done as your going into the turn. Just enough to register as a shake on the accelerometer. Then slowly turn back to balance out the drift

Still a tricky part of the game though. Have beaten everything else but except the drifting.

Don't know about the drifting, but... screen orientation lock switch? I rarely use my iPad in vertical orientation, so it's usually locked anyway.

Dont get it

Can someone help me here ?

I am still stuck in Chicago on the 1-6 Drift.

I can drift ( at least I think I can ) but I usually end up with 120 points and 16 drifts and that doesn't give me any place on the podium.

Bottom line: I don't understand the objective of this race. How Do why get 80 or more points with 1-6 drifts ?

Thanks for your help !

progressing into the game

I can't seem to get enough profile stars to unlock the next race.
tried the drifiting races, but to no avail.

Anyone knows how?

You have to use Manual and change the setting : Options > Controls > Customs: Turn Off : Steering Assist, Auto Brake, But the Auto Accel: On... Using a Manual... Also change the sensitivity to the Max... Use only 4 th Gear Maximum... Every corner try to tilt until drift and Hold the Car...by hold in the angle you drift... For me I use the car: Tier 1: Subaru Impresa WRX; Tier 2: Shelby GT 500; Tier 3: Nissan Skyline GT R (R35); Tier 4: Audi R8 LMS... Try to use the fastest car you have and if possible is rear wheel drive cars ....After 143 Stars you will get PORSCHE 911 997 GT3 RSR Good Luck from Yulius

Trying to figure out Podium Place

This may be a really stupid question, so I apologize in advance, but I am level 3.3 Tokyo Drift and I have no Idea how to hit the podium place. Is the goal to keep points under the point breakouts for 1st to 3rd place or do you just have to gun it and drift as much as possible to beat this level.
