Drive 4k@60HZ

Hi I have a new LG 4k monitor LG 27UD69 and an old Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015 with Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB,however i am not able to drive the monitor to run at full resolution at 60HZ.I am using the mini display port to HDMI adaptor but with no sucess. Any Suggestion on how to make it work?

If the monitor supports DisplayPort input I'd recommend buying a miniDP to DP cable, which should solve the issue. If you want to use HDMI make sure the monitor itself, the HDMI cable and the mninDP to HDMI adapter support HDMI 2.0 which is elementary for supporting 60HZ 4k via HDMI. Also check your monitors firmware settings therefore.

I have the previous model the LG 27UD58 and I'm using DisplayPort. But at 2560x1440 resolution the text is not as clear and sharp as 1920x1080 or full 4K resolution. But my 2014 rMBP can only do 30Hz on either HDMI or DP so maybe that's my problem. Thinking of returning and getting a 24-25'' monitor that maxes at 2560x1440 instead.

I have a 2015 base 15 inch retina, and it runs on all of my 4k displays just fine at 60hz. Seems like you just need a different cable set up. You can either use a MDport(thunderbolt 2) to display port cable If your monitor has it, or If you do want to use HDMI, you need to make sure that your 4k monitor supports HDMI 2.0 and you need to get a MDport(thunderbolt 2) to HDMI 2.0 high speed cable(Yes they do exist on amazon and it works perfectly on my vizio 4k tv @60hz).
