So today I got my drive caddy in the mail and I was expecting the installation to go smoothly. I have a 13inch mid-2010 Macbook Pro and the drive caddy doesn't fit because of a black plastic piece against the side of the laptop's case that seems to be an antenna (has a wire connected to it). I'm unable to properly close the bottom case because the caddy doesn't fit properly.

This is the drive caddy that I purchased:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170675666034&ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:CA:1123

I know it says that it's for the 2011 models but my model is listed on the list of compatible models on the page.

Am I doing something wrong or is it just the product? Thank you in advance.

2010 and 2011 are the same so it should fit I had an OWC cadd in a 2010 15in pro, 2010 13in Pro and 2011 15in Pro. My guess is the part is wrong. Or you are missing something.

Right Speaker

This is the part that isn't allowing the caddy to rest properly inside the laptop:

Is the optical drive you're replacing the same size as the caddy?

I ordered the same one from Amazon and people said they needed to cut a part of the caddy off to fit it in a Macbook pro. I however, never needed to do anything because it fit right in the place of the optical drive. Just slipped right in.

I own a 15 inch 2011 MBP.

Looking at the photo, I don't recall that black thing being in my MBP. Weird.

I just tore the black plastic off. It's connected by two plastic holders. I just pulled the entire strip out, cut off the two plastic things with a razor, then filed it flush. Fits just fine.

That looks like the same caddy as mine. Is it protruding slightly? I have a 2011 15" MBP and my caddy looks exactly like that. But, mine sits flush like a CD-Rom Drive

This looks like the same caddy as mine. I also had to rip off the black plastic strip and then it sat correctly.

Good luck

how come that black plastic strip of yours on the MBP seems to be in the way for the CD/DVD eject slot??

picture isn't clear.
