Drive Genius 3 Problems

I'm using Drive Genius 3 to defragment an external backup drive, but it's been stuck on "Preparing for defragmentation" for about 8-10 hours. This is seriously irritating and detrimental to productivity. Can anyone advise me? The drive is a USB Western Digital 1TB drive.

I think DiskWarrior is a better program than DG. Have you tried that?

I have dg and love it. Use it on internal and multiple external drives including western digitals. Never had any issues. Make sure you have the most recent updates
