I have an external HD that I connect to an iMac via firewire. I have a MacBook that I access this drive over a network. I needed to transfer a large amount of data, so I connected the HD to the MacBook via firewire. Replaced HD to iMac and now MacBook cannot see the drive in Finder when connecting through network. I think that the drive may have been mounted or associated by the MacBook and because it has the same name for the drive whether it is connected to the MacBook or the imac. How can I fix it to be able to access the drive when it is attached to the iMac?

Thanks,

Big Dave

PS. When I SSH between computers, I can use the drive.

if you think the computer now associates it with the macbook a way to fix that is tack on a number at the end of its name. However, that is just a simple solution not a tech savvy one, but might work, never know.
