I've currently got a setup where I'm using an M1 MacBook Air in clamshell mode driving a 2009 27" iMac in target display mode. It's been pretty good so far, but I was wondering if it's possible to drive two iMacs at the same time? I can't think of a reason why not (apart from needing to buy a hub), but before I buy anything, are there any limitations I'm not aware of?

The M1 Air only supports one external display via Displayport/HDMI/Thunderbolt. Also, Apple don't support DisplayPort Daisy-chaining.

There is a solution using a hub/adaptor that supports "DisplayLink" which involves installing drivers (...and the danger of compatibility hassles with future OS upgrades) and may not have the performance of a "proper" connection - whether it works with an iMac in TDM is another question (I'd guess yes with a DisplayPort iMac, no with a TB1/2 iMac). https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/h...ternal-displays-apple-silicon-m1-mac-3799794/

Ah, yeah I think I remember hearing that ages ago. That's annoying. Well, at least I didn't buy another iMac. Thanks
