I have had my eye on these Creative 250Ds for some time, and I am hoping to use them with a new PowerBook. However, I am worried about all the extra stuff I may need to purchase in order to have them "fully" work with a PowerBook. I am looking at an external FireWire sound card from M-Audio (24-bit/96kHz).

Does anyone have any insight into wiring "desktop" speakers to laptops?

Shouldn't see any problem, after all it's only a 2.1 system so there'll be only one minijack to plug into your book. I'm running Klipsch's Promedia 2.1+2SWS subs into my 15" PB. If you were trying to hook up a 4.1 system, meaning 4 satellite speakers and 1 sub, you'd likely have to use a Y-adapter if you were planning on utilizing two channels. With a 2.1 system it's merely plug and play.
