Okay here is an article on the subject (an eye opener) about what threat Microsoft poses on the rest of the computing landscape if they get a stranglehold on this 'Digital Rights Management' and anything else that relates:

Microsoft protecting rights--or Windows?

As we all know Microsoft is planning spearheading the digital lifestyle market (something Apple saw coming years ago) and will try to undermind other competitors while taking advantage of the gullible joe and jane consumer/user, who don't know any better when it comes to these kinds of tactics when it comes to Microsoft and its strong arm!

Well we Mac users have only one advantage, and that is our closeness in a huge community that we are today. We have to somehow defend against this threat and keep our worthy investments relevant. Mindshare seems to be a powerful element when it comes to the computing industry and consumers alike. We have all the talents and creativity to make sure that we won't be wiped away from the computing landscape. If this means we join forces with other communities like Linux, Amiga, Be, QNX and etc... then so be it, it's in the best interests for all of us to protect our liberties and freedom in regards to our computer platforms of choice. We shouldn't be forced to choose a platform against our will just to enjoy the fruits of technology!

What do you guys/gals think?
