Hi, my old Drobo 5N died on me recently.

I mainly have used it as a time-machine backup server, and some old DVD-rips that I really don't need, but there are also some old stuff archived there that we really, really do want to recover.

So, I've started looking (at the local market here in Norway) for a used Drobo, since the company went bankrupt a couple of years ago, and the only alternative that's showed up is a Drobo FS, which (as far as I understand is the version before the 5N).

Does anyone know if the FS and 5N are interchangeable? (Meaning I can just pull the 5 disks from the 5N and put them into the FS?)

And does the FS work with Macos Sequoia?

Once I've gotten the data out, I'll change to an alternativ NAS, and this time I'll get one that uses regular RAID, and not a proprietary version... ;)

Has the unit itself died and now powering on? My drobo use to keep corrupting my drives and I would use disk warrior to fix them…

If machine itself is dead I’d just hold out for exact version if your drobo as any different models could risk corrupting drives…

The unit seems to have died.

What happened was that I got a message about Time Machine not being able to find the disk... again...

So I checked the Drobo and the unit itself was dead, while the green light on the power supply was doing a slow blink.

When I disconnected it (and let it rest for a bit), I then tried it in a bit different ways. If I _just_ connect the power supply to the mains the green light comes on, as it should, but as soon as I connect it to the Drobo it starts blinking again, and the Drobo cannot be turned on.

Now, at first I did suspect that it was the power supply that had died, but the more I've googled it the more I leand towards the Drobo itself being the problem.

So, that's why I'm looking for a way to get the Data off the disks inside... one way or another.
