Hi guys, I have 8TB worth of data on the line here, and I'd really rather not lose any of it.

My current setup is as follows:

MacMini: 10.8.4
DroboPro: 20TB (Physical disk space)
Volumes: 1x NTFS @ 16TB (8TB used)

This is a very DROBO specific question, and I was hoping someone here was a bit experienced that they might be able to help me.

What I would like to do, is convert my NTFS partition, into an HFS partition. That way I don't have to use any 3rd party plugins/extensions/tools to utilize my Drobo. I do not have anywhere to store 8TB worth of data to reformat the drobo.

Rather then using any (non supported) 3rd party tools to convert my partition, I was wondering if the following situation would work.

Can I create a new HFS volume on a Drobo, larger then the remaining space available?
For example, can I have a 16TB NTFS volume, and a 16TB HFS volume, on 20TB of physical storage?

Ideally, once both volumes exist, then I can migrate the data from NTFS to the HFS volume, then simply remove the NTFS volume once complete.

I really hope this makes sense. Thanks.

P.S Will adding an HFS volume have any affect on my current NFTS volume?
