I've been a Dropbox user for over a decade, but I'm now actively considering leaving the service and exclusively using iCloud+ to store/sync all of the files that I currently have stored in my Dropbox folder (*don't really like the idea of paying $120/year for Dropbox when I'm already paying a subscription fee for iCloud+ that might already have the same basic functionality).

I know that Dropbox is loaded with all sorts of bells and whistles that iCloud doesn't have, but in reality, I primary use Dropbox to keep all of my files in sync between my laptop and desktop computers, and also for incremental/versioned/automatic backups of all of my files in the Dropbox folder. It seems that iCloud+ also syncs files seamlessly between my two Mac computers (and makes those synced files available to my on my mobile devices via the Files app; and it also backs up the files in the iCloud Drive folder.

Are there any glaring differences between the two services that I should consider before dumping Dropbox completely? What are some of the main features/capabilities that one service has that the other doesn't (and vice versa)?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Dropbox is better for collaborating, it has better sharing features, version control, better integration with 3rd party apps, and has more feature parity across platforms. But if you just need to store and sync files mainly between Apple devices, then iCloud works fine.
